Can the Tigers carry their winning momentum and take
an unassailable 2-0 lead?
Preview
Bangladesh won the opening match against Sri Lanka by
33 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Tamim Iqbal and Co put up
a competitive fantasy
cricket leagues score of 257 on the board after which Mehidy Hasan
Miraz’s four-wicket haul rocked the Lankans.
Mushfiqur Rahim’s 84 and fifties from skipper Tamim
and Mahmudullah also helped the Tigers in registering a comprehensive win. As
far as the Lankans are concerned, they looked out of sorts, both from the
batting and bowling front.
Their middle-order batters looked hapless and though
Wanindu Hasaranga put forth a spirited effort, they lost the match. The second
ODI is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 25 and it’s a must-win affair
for the visitors. Bangladesh, on the other hand, would be looking to pocket the
series.

Pitch Report
The pitch in Mirpur has, traditionally, been a slow
one for batting and bowlers, especially the spinners. Run-scoring in the
powerplay hence becomes crucial. Both teams wouldn’t mind batting first and
then putting pressure on the daily
fantasy cricket opposition.
A high-scoring game doesn’t seem to be on the cards.
There are chances of rain in the morning and hence, there could be delays. The
DLS method may come into play as well.

Probable best batsman of the match
Tamim Iqbal– Bangladesh
Tamim Iqbal looked accomplished in the last game as he
scored 52 runs off 70 balls with the help of six fours and one six. He played
at a strike rate of 74.28 and got out to Dananjaya de Silva when he was seeing
the ball like a football.
He also completed 14,000 runs at the international
level. He has been in good form in recent times and the Tigers will be looking
up to their skipper to deliver.
Probable best bowler of the match
Mehidy Hasan Miraz– Bangladesh
Mehidy Hasan Miraz has grown leaps and bounds in the
last four months or so, ever since he scored the century against West Indies.
On Sunday, he was on top of his game with the ball in hand.
In 10 overs, he conceded only 30 runs and picked up
the crucial wickets of Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva,
and Ashen Bandara. Not to forget that he is an efficient batter as well.
